Former Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic 'to join LA Galaxy', according to reports in Spain
Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic is set to join MLS side LA Galaxy following his release from Manchester United, according to reports in Spain.
The Swedish striker suffered a cruciate ligament injury in the Europa League semi-final against Celta Vigo and is expected to be out of action until the start of 2018.
Ibrahimovic was not included on United's retained list announced on Friday, but the player is confident of making a full recovery from his setback.
Spanish publication Marca have reported that the 35-year-old will move Stateside to
prolong his career, with LA Galaxy making their move now he is a free agent.
Having vowed to return stronger than ever, Marca claim Ibrahimovic will take the same path as David Beckham in moving to California where LA Galaxy hope he will be fit for the start of the next MLS pre-season in March.
Ibrahimovic has been allowed to continue his rehabilitation at Carrington despite his official release, which was mutually agreed upon following the end of the season.
Ibrahimovic has been training alongside physio Dario Fort, a close friend, despite the rest of the squad departing for their summer break or international games.
