The news out of Italy is that AC Milan have had a bid rejected by Bayern Munich for Renato Sanches, who’s apparently on the Chelsea shortlist for potential midfield signings after Conte himself enquired about him last week after the friendly between the two clubs in Singapore.
According to Sky Italia (via Football Italia), Milan’s bid included a €10m loan fee for one year, with an attached buy-option for €35-40m. Since Bayern may be open to a loan but most likely not open to a sale, it’s not all that surprising to see this bid
rejected.
Last week, Milan CEO Marco Fassone confirmed their interest in the 19-year-old but also sounded less than hopeful about meeting Bayern’s valuation. Bayern are apparently seeking a two-year loan arrangement with no buy option (or possibly a highly outrageous one).
Chelsea are actively seeking a fourth midfielder for the season ahead, especially now that Nemanja Matić’s move to Manchester United is all but official. Getting a temporary solution like Sanches may not be the most ideal — and Sanches himself may not be too keen on it since he’s looking for more opportunities and minutes than he got at Bayern last year and that wouldn’t be guaranteed at Chelsea (a familiar conundrum for any followers of Chelsea’s Loan Army) — but Chelsea could do a lot worse than bringing in the highly talented and promising youngster for a couple seasons.
