From Messi's £500,000-a-week wages to Ronaldo's £21m Nike contract: How do super-star rivals' mega-money deals compare?
Its has become the norm now for Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi to compete for the Ballon d'Or award such is their dominance on the pitch.
The two stars have created many spectacular and memorable moments over the years for supporters all over the world and have dominated the game we all love for a while now.
Special performances in big games and claiming the biggest prizes in world football has its
rewards and the pair have received plenty of mega-money deals as a result.
So how do their contracts off the field compare? Sportsmail's PETE JENSON has taken a look...
Wages per week
Ronaldo
Around €23.7m per season net according to Lisbon paper Correio de Manha. Contracts in La Liga are expressed with annual net figures. When expressed as a weekly wage, that amounts to €455,000 (£400,000) a week after tax.
Messi
The new deal, set to be signed at the start of July is understood to be in the region of €30m net a season which would put him on €576,920 (£507,000) a week.

Until 2021 and Ronaldo has already said that his latest contract is only his 'penultimate' and that he wants to keep playing for Madrid until he is 41.
Messi
His new deal will be for three years until 2021 with option of another year. He will be 34 in June 2022 if he sees out the four years. The extra year is totally down to Messi. Optional final years are often subject to the player playing a certain amount of games the year before but there will be no such stipulations for the Argentine.
