DOMINIC KING: Liverpool are ready to pay the world record transfer fee for a defender after Virgil van Dijk made it clear he wants to play for Jurgen Klopp. Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City have been chasing the 25-year-old Southampton star, but Liverpool are poised to win the race thanks to the lure of working with their charismatic manager. It will take a fee close to £60million — £10m more than City paid Everton for John Stones — to land Van Dijk, with 10 per cent of that sum going to his former club Celtic because of a sell-on clause.
