Former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba paid an emotional tribute to the late Cheick Tiote after making a winning debut for Phoenix Rising.
Ex-Newcastle midfielder Tiote tragically suffered a heart attack during a training session with Chinese club Beijing Enterprises.
And following his compatriot's death, Drogba paid tribute to Tiote after he scored a thumping header for the Arizona outfit in their 2-1 win against Vancouver Whitecaps II in the United Soccer League Western Conference.
After scoring the opener for his new side, the Ivorian striker then set up Shaun Wright-Phillips for the match-winning goal but following the victory, Drogba only had Tiote in his thoughts.
Drogba took to Instagram to post a picture of him with his new team-mates, saying: 'I wanna dedicate this win to Cheick Tiote who passed away few days ago while doing what he loved, playing football. My thoughts and condolences to his family.'
Meanwhile, Tiote's body will be flown back to the Ivory Coast this week after current and former team-mates gather for a memorial service.
